JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Investment Associate is responsible for underwriting investment opportunities, providing financial analyses to support investment decisions and conducting market research. The Investment Associate is also responsible for analysing due diligence materials, assisting in the preparation of investment memorandums and supporting deal execution. The Investment Associate will assist with decisions of existing portfolio assets.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Assisting senior real estate professionals in sourcing, preparing and presenting new investment memo’s; financing or disposition recommendations; and updates on existing investments or portfolio status.
  • Support acquisition due diligence processes and closings with outside counterparties, managing external advisors.
  • Actively engaging with owners, brokers, equity partners, lenders, attorneys, consultants and all other related internal departments, as appropriate.
  • Financial analysis and underwriting of investment opportunities, including the creation of detailed multi-tier pro-forma waterfall models; work closely with Development, Asset Management and Operations teams to ensure all assumptions have been reviewed and are coordinated.
  • Work closely with the Development team to achieve the successful closing and capitalization of our secured development pipeline, including investment analysis, preparing and presenting investment recommendations and securing Greystar and investor/Fund approvals.
  • Engaging with lenders, support in the negotiation of term sheets and long form agreements and coordinate the internal approval processes (with support from in-house counsel).
  • Assist with value-add execution and disposition of existing portfolio assets.
  • Market investigation of potential acquisitions, competitive properties and local market fundamentals.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Educated to MSc (WO) / University Degree (2:1 and above) or equivalent in or a related business or analytical subject, such as finance, business management, real estate, accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics; science or engineering.
  • IT literate and fully conversant with all Microsoft packages including PowerPoint (Advanced level) and Excel (Advanced level).

Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Must have excellent written and spoken English
  • Prior experience at Analyst/Associate level within investment banking, private equity, or other finance fields.
  • Strong quantitative background with experience of financial modelling ideally in corporate finance, related-business or accounting.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and attention to detail with a demonstrable ability to research, analyse and present complex financial data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; including the ability to effectively write and present reports and information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, both with respect to managing workload and own professional development.
  • Naturally inquisitive with a desire to understand the bigger picture and get involved with wider team and business objectives.
  • A positive team player, with an adaptable and flexible approach along with ability to work collaboratively to drive results and support the wider team and business objectives.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrable interest or experience working in the Real Estate Sector.
  • Demonstrable experience in an analytical and/or transactional role within investment banking, private equity or other related finance, within Europe or internationally.
  • Understanding of Dutch is a plus but not required.
