JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Director of Enterprise Data Operations leads the strategy and execution of enterprise-scale data operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and governance of data platforms. This role ensures successful Operations and Support of the data platform, manages the Data CAB, seamless data ingestion, transformation, governance, and delivery across business domains, while leading a team of DataOps engineers and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to support analytics, reporting, and compliance needs. This pivotal role will involve the management of data integrity, optimization of data workflows, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to leverage data for strategic decision-making.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities

Platform Operations & Engineering

  • Own the operational lifecycle of the enterprise data platform, including Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse**, Microsoft Fabric**, and Azure Data Lake.

  • Own, manage and execute the Data Change Advisory Board (Data CAB) to handshake with Data Engineering and Functional teams to ensure that only a well-tested and quality deliverable makes it to the production environment.

  • Create directions and establishthe Data Observability across the platform. Establish the data operations SLA for timely and accurate availability of data for any analytics.

  • Provides inputs to the design and execution of robust data pipelines, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance across ingestion, transformation, and delivery layers.

Data Governance & Compliance

  • Partner with Data Governance and Architecture teams to implement data lineage, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external data policies, including data privacy, security, and regulatory standards.

ITSM & Operational Excellence

  • Establish and maintain ITSM-aligned processes for incident, change, and problem management related to data operations.

  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of data platform issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

  • Drive automation and observability across the data stack using tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Databricks REST APIs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics, Product, and Infrastructure teams to align operational capabilities with business needs.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for data platform issues and coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders for resolution.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of DataOps engineers and analysts, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Support hiring, onboarding, and career development, including coordination with global and remote teams.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in data engineering or operations, with 5+ years in a leadership role.

  • Deep hands-on expertise in Databricks, Azure Data Services, and cloud-native data architectures.

  • Strong understanding of ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and experience implementing operational processes at scale.

  • Proven track record of managing complex data ecosystems and leading cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Additional Compensation:

Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including business requirements, prior experience, current skills and geographical location.

  • Corporate Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in a quarterly or annual bonus program based on individual and company performance.

  • Onsite Property Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly bonus programs.
