JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Development Summer Associate will join Greystar’s Development team for the summer, gaining hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of multifamily and mixed-use projects — from site acquisition and design through construction, capitalization, and stabilization. This role offers exposure to multiple disciplines within real estate development, providing a comprehensive understanding of how Greystar delivers best-in-class communities across diverse markets.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development directors on active projects through financial analysis, due diligence, and market research.

  • Assist in underwriting and evaluating new development opportunities, including preparation of investment memoranda and presentation materials for internal review.

  • Analyze project budgets, schedules, and pro formas to support decision-making throughout the development process.

  • Participate in design coordination and entitlement efforts, interfacing with architects, consultants, and local agencies.

  • Collaborate with construction management, investment, and operations teams to ensure alignment across project stages.

  • Prepare materials for senior management and investment committee meetings.

  • Conduct research on local market dynamics, construction costs, and capital trends to inform development strategy.

Qualifications

  • Current MBA student (Class of 2027) with a focus in Real Estate, Finance, Architecture, or Construction Management.

  • 3–5+ years of prior professional experience in real estate development, project management, construction, or related fields.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with development modeling preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex ideas.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative, proactive, and intellectually curious team player.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the development lifecycle, including acquisition, entitlement, design, construction, and lease-up.

  • Gain experience analyzing and structuring real estate development projects from both a financial and operational perspective.

  • Build technical skills in financial modeling, project budgeting, and market evaluation.

  • Deepen understanding of how Greystar integrates development, investment, and operations to create long-term value.

Salary Range: $3,500.00-4,500.00/bi-weekly

Additional Compensation:

Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including business requirements, prior experience, current skills and geographical location.

  • Corporate Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in a quarterly or annual bonus program based on individual and company performance.

  • Onsite Property Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly bonus programs.
