JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Design, build, and deploy data models from internal and external data sets to find opportunities and optimize business processes. Works closely with Line of Business Owners, Business Analysts, Data Stewards, Data Architects, and Developers to create insights gained from analyzing company data and test the effectiveness of difference courses of action. Demonstrates business results realized from the delivered data insights. Obtains new requirements from stakeholders and functional teams, and coordinates efforts with the developers, and business analysts. Recommends new sources of data both internal and external. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes. Ensures compliance with Greystar’s policies & procedures, safety, state and federal laws, regulations, and standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead strategic analysis and collaboration efforts related to strategic planning, selection, and implementation of strategy and solutions, including needs required to perform data mining, modeling, and analysis.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, excessing verbal and written communication skills, ability to organize/prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Work as a hands-on member of the team to mine and analyze data from internal and external sources.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the identification of new sources of data. Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Help establish knowledge management as a core practice within IT, including both the repository of knowledge, as well as the practice of managing knowledge.
  • Other projects, as assigned.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of statistical, data mining and modeling, and analysis techniques that mine and manipulate data to draw insights from data sets.
  • Proficiency in writing complex Transact-SQL (T-SQL) queries and managing relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server).
  • Experience in optimizing queries for performance (e.g., indexing, query execution plans).
  • Understanding of database normalization, denormalization, and dimensional modeling (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, and other relevant frameworks that govern PII (Personally Identifiable Information).
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze operational system questions and issues and determine best steps in rendering solutions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 Products, with strong emphasis in spreadsheet and database management programs to develop and/or complete required reports.
  • Academic background in a quantitative or related field (e.g., Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics).

SPECIALIZED SKILLS:

  • Experience in the real estate development, management or construction business is preferred
  • Experience understanding, processing, analyzing, visualizing, and communicating complex data sets to technical and non-technical audiences, tailoring your message to show business value and impact by understanding the goal and your audience
  • Experience with visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc.
  • Experience building and manipulating data models within Power BI, using DAX and SQL to massage datasets into a usable state for visualization
  • Experience or understanding of Agile product development and design thinking to execute based on defined timelines
  • Experience or interest with PySpark for distributed data processing, including knowledge of transformations, actions, RDDs, and DataFrames
  • Experience or interest in using python, R, or other programming languages for data wrangling, automation, and machine learning (e.g., classification, clustering, response prediction, sentiment analysis, A/B testing)
  • Self-starter with strong organizational, managerial and project management skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate to cross functional leaders and senior executives internally and externally

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Team members work in an office or remote work environment. No special physical demands required.
  • Rare or occasional travel may be required to attend business meetings, training programs, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all of the daily responsibilities of this position.

Additional Compensation:

Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including business requirements, prior experience, current skills and geographical location.

  • Corporate Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus program based on individual and company performance.

  • Onsite Property Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly bonus programs.
